This is a truly special place - an extraordinary site to behold! It is a 63-acre outdoor sculpture park built entirely by one man - you can easily spend half a day here exploring. Beautiful setting. Regular Visiting Hours: 10am to 5pm, Thursday – Monday.
The cutest farm with a really sweet farmer family. You can book a farm tour (8am and 3pm daily) on their website (reservations needed).
Ride the rails on pedal-powered 'Rail Explorers', a unique activity suitable for everyone. Experience the magic of the historic Ulster & Delaware Railroad as you travel alongside the Esopus Creek through the beautiful woods of the Catskill Mountains. Bring a snack and a drink to enjoy at the creekside turnaround. It is an 8-mile roundtrip with electric pedal assistance.
Nearby waterpark! Not huge, very manageable with fun rides and a wave pool - perfect to beat the heat! Check their daily hours, but typically open 10am-6pm.
This was such a fun, off the beaten path experience. The course is 9 holes and is par 32, The theme is the story of "Rip Van Winkle" by Washington Irving. Each hole symbolizes different aspects of the story in chronological order. They serve refreshments and ice cream - both adults and kids will love this!

A winter playground only 15 minutes from Wilderkaat! Cross country ski, snowshoe, and fat bike through scenic Catskill Mountain trails, zoom down the longest snow tubing run in New York, glide along ice skating paths, and much more!
NY's Mount Rushmore! The hike to Pratt Rock and the overlook isn’t too long, but it is steep in some sections. The trail is not clearly marked, but the path is obvious thanks to years of visitors. Once you reach the stone carvings, you’ll have to backtrack a bit to continue to the overlook. The trailhead is about a 5 minute drive from Wilderkaat.
This is a bit of a trek (1 hr from Wilderkaat), but seems worth a trip. The spring-fed quarry now features a swimming area larger than two Olympic-size swimming pools. Lake Sophia is located on the western side of the Sojourner Truth State Park. The new swim area will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Labor Day weekend.
